Centered Riding Sally Swift	A great book for beginning or advanced riders	Heavenly Gaits : The Complete Book of Gaited Riding Horses by Brenda Imus	This book needs to be in your horse info library! If you have any interest in gaited horses in particular, or horses in general, this book should be on your shelf. It gives wonderful descriptions and illustrations of the different gaits and in-depth history of many gaited breeds. The writing style is very readable and is actually hard to put down. The appendix of breed associations and bibliography listing books, magazines and tapes is extremely helpful.

This book captures the Arabian in all its glory for today's horse lovers.	Arabians From the Camera of Johnny Johnston by M. L. Nicol	Visually breathtaking book. Johnny Johnston is one of the all time great horse photographers. For those of us who own and love Arabians, most will agree he can capture the true essence of a horse again and again. The cover photograph of the magnificent stallion *Padron remains one of my favorite horses photographs.
Arabian Legends : Outstanding Arabian Stallions and Mares (Legends, 5) by Marian K. Carpenter,	This book is an important "who's who" of the Arabian horse world. Twenty-two of the most influential stallions are profiled. Of special interest are the the only two mares profiled, Bint Sahara and *Sanacht	The Classic Arabian Horse by Judith Forbis	This book presents the basics of the historical background of the modern Arabian horse. It is slanted a bit towards the Egyptian Arabian but that is ok, as it does mention other sources. It has some excellent photos and is a stepping stone to hte next Forbis book, Authentic Arabian Bloodstock.

Porter	This is a wonderful book written by an extremely skilled horseman. The book is hard to read at times because Mr. Dorrance tends to be kind of vague on his techniques. But then, I'm not really sure he had too many "techniques." He just understood horses like few have ever done

It is beautifully illustrated and gives an accurate picture of the role of the modern day draft horse. Work Horse Handbook: Lynn R Miller	This book has become a classic and THE standard reference on working horses. From care and feeding through hitching and driving: every aspect is covered. Draft Horses: An Owner's Manual by: Beth A DVM, Phd Valentine, Michael J., Cjf Wildenstein	It covers all aspects of owning and maintaining a healthy draft horse: with topics considered ranging from exercise to diet; hoofcare to healthcare. The volume would serve any draft owner well, but would also make a great addition to any farrier's library. I would also highly recommend this book to owner's of other breeds as many of the disease processes, parasites, and lameness issues prove to be, for the most part, non-breed specific.

Mark Rashid
Horses Never Lie Mark Rashid	This is a great book. As he is with horses, Rashid is very subtle and doesn't try to cram his way of thinking down our throats, but uses stories to lead by example. The root of his theory here is "passive leadership", which can be a somewhat misleading term if you don't understand his meaning. It doesn't mean to be passive and let your horse dominate you, but to become a leader to your horses, through demonstrating behavior that they can trust.	A Good Horse Is Never a Bad Color Mark Rashid .	The Title says it best... my thoughts exactly
