Yup, very hot. Loved the pics of the bikini skate party! RR, couldn't you dig out your bikini????? I hope your eyes improve soon. You are supposed to use special drops for eyes made for contacts, but I guess the doc told you that. I have worn contacts for 30 years. I quit wearing them a couple of years ago but I dug them out recently (like when we went to Ft. Worth). They were still good (disposable). It's easier for me to wear my glasses because I don't need them for reading, just for distance. When I wear contacts, I have to use reading glasses.

Son is on his way to Portland...he left yesterday about 7 p.m. and is now almost to Utah. He and his friend drove all night. Us old folks couldn't do that. I told him to pull off and sleep but they are determined to drive straight through. I'll be glad when he finds somewhere to live.

Arcadia Lake equestrian trails are open again. YAY! I haven't been over there but now that we are headed towards 100s ... I will wait.

Lesa got called last night to go downtown for the movie they are filming in OK.

We have about 40 RSVPs for TRG tonight. That should be interesting!

AMR: You can vent here anytime..and be grumpy. Fingers crossed that the restaurant works out.

Blaze: New fangled equipment? When I went to the chiropractor, he xrayed me and it went immediately to a laptop! I was amazed.

OK, it's 9:40 and so far I have done nothing but house chores (dishes) now need to get to work!

SR-I'm feeling so very bad for you right now. Relinquishing your hope of ever seeing Kennedy, I can't even imagine. I am so very sorry for you and Gene. How you must be feeling inside. If ever I can do anything to help, please let me know.

I forgot to comment about SR's post. I think that someday Kennedy will find you when she is old enough to be on her own. She will remember how much love you had for her. Many HMMMMMMMMSSSS ....

1:22 and haven't done much work. Can't get motivated.

Dar love love love your gate!

I so agree SG Kennedy will be back in your life when she is older, many hugs till then, I know how hard this must be. :(
A friend was in a situation who was fighting for his kids after a nasty divorce and the battles were very heated. Try as he might to protect the kids from it, the mom used the kids and kept them in the middle , he decided that it was better for the kids if he stepped away, so hard to do.

Many thoughts to Reta too during this very difficult time.

AMR hoping the restaurant is gonna go for you and keeping Braden in my prayers.

Not looking forward to the hot week ahead

Couldn't pass this one by: Here is a good one my SIL sent to me.

Subject: To pee or not to pee

Like most folks in this country, I have a job. I
work, they pay me.
I pay my taxes & the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit.

In order to get that paycheck, in my case, I am required to pass a random urine test (with which I have no problem).

What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.

So, here is my question: Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them?

Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their BUTT----doing drugs while I work.

Can you imagine how much money each state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?

I guess we could call the program "URINE OR YOU'RE OUT"!
P.S. Just a thought, all politicians should have to pass a urine test too!

The Cowboy preachers wife died today, that was going to preach Reta's son's Funeral??? what are the chances. She was very ill. last Sun.
Blaze. they live in ADA, Dale and Sue Howery?? they are the ones that owned the resturant that burned a few months ago. They took her to the Ada Hosp. then to OKC. she just didn't make it. She had been diag. with cancer just a few month ago.

I really like contacts, I can't see close up, I was having to change glasses , for every thing, sun glasses, reading glasses get them out put them up , my eye dr. wouldn't let me get them because I can see far off so well. but now with my age I have lost some far sighted ness so I am wearing one for close up and one for far off. it has worked well for me. I didnt' start wearing and kind of glasses until I was about 45, glad I had kept my glasses , so now I will have to wear them for a couple of weeks. yuk

Talked to Reta today, she got her son home about 10 this morn, she got to identify him?? they went in a police car , no stopping for any thing no stop signs they went the speed limit but went right on thru, some one told the drive , we are in a speed trap. he laugh , said not today. she said it was very moving to get him and how they took care of him.

SR so sorry about loosing Kenedy. I agree, she'll remember how much you love her. I think at 14 they have some rights to choose. Can your daughter talk to her?

AMR Good luck with the cafe.

RR Where are you going in NM? I jealous but in no shape to go. Hope to go someday though.

Had my return trip to chiro today and he got me straightened out in a couple of other places. I think I'm just about back together. Still some rib pain but soo much better than it was.

HMMMM's for all.

I went to Reta's sons Memorial Service today. It was very nice. They had bag pipes played, gun salute (inside the church), police and military both. They did the flag and handed it to Heather. It lasted almost an hour. I know she was very proud of Chuck, and rightfully so. I will be thinking of her often in the coming weeks and months. It will be hard for her.

Sage,
Thinking of you also. It just doesn't seem right that you can't see Kennedy. Keep you head up thru all this. It will get better.

I'm so sorry to learn about Reta's son. Brings back memories of my own sad time - days of waiting for Lance's body to come home; countless press inquiries; Sheriff's escort from the airport; and then once Lance was home, the time went too fast - almost too fast to say good bye. A very sad time - still a very sad time. God's Blessings to Reta and her family - I truly know her pain.

EVERYBODY--- I have been writing in a little journal every night, and listing the things I am thankful for. What a blessing to have a horse and land in the middle of all you wonderful ladies!!!! I DO NOT take it for granted. We have all had our share of problems on this board, and its nice to know that we all care about each other, and I include the ones who do not post here anymore.

OKH--I am so sorry I forgot the tomatos. I think I am going to blame it on Eva. I was carrying my purse, my ubiquitous glass of tea, and a cake. I loved Julie's place, I came home all "revveed up" to clean, rearrange, be more neat, and the next day I felt very weak and mostly sat on the couch and read! I am sorry I got 7 calls while you were making announcements. Three of them were my daughter and neighbor who were scared that a police car drove up to our house. I never USED to be afraid of the police!! HE wanted eggs! Then Gene had to call twice and tell me not to worry.

I'm invited to a camp out next wk-end, but I am thinking I don't want to ride in this heat. When I stay out in the sun, my BP and heart rates plummet, even when I drink alot of water. Plus I think I am afflicted with a little "laziness". Reta, and you too Dana, are in my thoughts alot.

AMR--Still praying for little Braden. Hope I get to see him sometime. The Lord knows what is best for you in regard to this restaurant, so if you don't get it you will understand why later down the road. If you do get it, you are going to have help coming out your ears!!! Did you tell me if you will get the previous rest. equip?

I'm going to go on FB and try to see that gate everyone is talking about!!

Gracious!! Where is everyone? No one has posted since last night. Our Church sent a letter to Reta's family in condolence for her son. Everyone signs it and adds what they feel led to share. It makes it very real as we pray for the family. I have a good friend dying of leukemia, and a friend whose son is fighting it. Why are we so shocked when the same things that have been happening for thousands of years happen to yus?.

I need to find Reta's address again on one of the past pages.People are different, I try to think pleasant thoughts, but last night as I held a picture of Valerie and Kennedy and wept quietly so as Gene wouldn't hear me, I thought of a quote I read the other day. I don't understand alot of Shakespeare, but this was plain: "Give sorrow words: the grief that does not speak whispers o"er the fraught heart and bids it break" MacBeth---------in other words talk about your sorrow, don't try to bury it. Bless Reta right now as she struggles to accept the reality. I PRAY LITTLE BRADEN IS eating on his own.

My grass is looking dry, I think we need some rain----------------------but NOT a ton of it! I want to avoid giving hay as long as possible.

Looking forward to some cooler trails with you girls.

OH MY, so many sorrows. I am so sorry for all of the hurting and painful things that have happened to my friends on here. We have been gone since July 6 and then 2 weeks before that we were staying at our fireworks stand 24/7 and then the week before that, my mom remarried and then the week before that school was out and now it's a fixin to start back again. Have to go in several days before we even start on the 17th! YIKES time flies.

AMR, are you looking into opening a resturant?

Somebody gots a new gate?

Sharon, I think of you and Gene often! May GOD Bless you and give you strenght! I agree, Kennedy will come back to you again. I don't know what has gone on with that situation of late. I have only read this page 10.

So sorry for Reta's loss. I can not even imagine. I took a picture that was by one of the memorials in DC, it said, Freedom is not Free. I thought of Tiffany's son and others that I know that have loved ones serving our country. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I haven't been on in a long time. I can't really read this from my iphone, it takes for ever to read a sentence because you can only see a small portion at a time. I best do a better job of keeping up with my peeps!

We traveled up in the New England states. It was beautiful. The one thing that I thought of so much was how everyone had their homes decorated with flags, the American Flag. I believe that they are very patoritic up there. I told Rick I want him to put me a big flag pole up. Sometimes we take things for granted, I am guilty of that myself. Well, I will shut up for now. Love you all, my thoughts and prayers go out to all of us. We are all in need in some way. Take care and be safe!

I am not sure where the weekend went. We ran around and did errands on Saturday. Then went out for dinner for our 29th anniversary. I have misplaced my rings and my watch in the house and it is driving me crazy. I hate not having my rings and I miss my watch. They have fallen back behind something...?????? I have checked through the trash....

Horses were miserable in this heat, covered with sweat.

PP: We have missed you! You've had a busy summer. Hope all goes well with the neurosurgeon. So far my hip and back are doing ok. I just have to watch it.

SO STINKIN HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday morning we are having a work day at Arcadia. I hope it goes well and we can get the trails back into shape.

I've started feeding a little bit of hay at night when I shut them up. Mainly to give them something to do for a little while.
Happy Trails to You!
