Dog Chewing
by Michelle HoltYou come home to find an expensive pair of shoes chewed up, The door frame has fang marks in it and sitting in the middle of your living room is a puppy rolling in pain from the non- dog food he ingested. So what do you do. Well of course you take the puppy to the Vet and seriously think of leaving him there. Then you start Chew proofing your puppy.
In addition to ruining certain items puppy’s can and sometimes do ingest articles after chewing that just does not agree with their systems which can get caught in their intestines giving you a large vet bill to pay having it removed.
So what to do?
1. Get some Rawhide chew bones or my personal favorite Booda Velvet Bones. This gives puppy something edible to chew to satisfy the hunger feelings.2. A large bowl of dog food available at all times so puppy does feel hungry and think he/she needs to chew.
3.Puppy toys, ropes, squeaky toys, rubber balls and whatnot. Lets keep puppy’s mind on something he / she is allowed to chew.
4. A crate or a room where puppy can be safe from chewing and your house can be safe from puppy.
5. Childproof gates or just keeping the doors closed to rooms you don’t want puppy to go into.
6. Make sure puppy CANNOT get to any electrical cord
